True Colors

Hey, this is just a quick post to add a new idea.  I think I've seen another Sims 2 blog somewhere that does this, but I can't remember where right now.  If I find it again I'll add a link.  Anyway, if you've played Sims 3, you know those sims have favorite colors.

Well, that really can't be added in Sims 2, except in theory.  I found this chart listing Sims 3 favorite colors, and I plan to use the Dungeons and Dragons Dice Roller to roll a number between 1 and 20 to detrmine a favorite color for my sims in Sims 2.  Why?  Well, it seems more interesting, and it will help me choose colors to decorate and colors of clothing.  I tend to use the same colors all the time.  I just playtested this idea in Belladonna Cove where I run all my experiments.

I just rolled orange for Justin Cleveland, a pre-made teenage sim in Belladonna Cove, and then decorated his room orange.  It was fun, because I never use orange.  It's nice to see something different, even if it is a little tacky.  The rest of the house was redecorated in pink (his mother's favorite) and spiceberry (his father's favorite).  It was very fun. With some sims, I may already have a color in mind for them, but mostly I will let it be chosen randomly.  So I will soon be adding favorite colors to my Sims in Apple Grove page, and when I finally get caught up on blogging, I will get to do some redecorating, and my sims are going to be shopping for some new clothes.

And then later, I might add other favorites like foods.  Favorite foods are a part of the game, but I think you have to find out by having them go to a restaurant.  The food they are thinking about is their favorite food.

That is so fun! I'm the same way, getting into patterns with my colors. I've been contemplating doing a rainbow legacy or something like that so I can implement the same kind of idea.

It is a lot of fun to play with stuff I never use. I'm looking forward to really shaping the characters' personalities even more.

I've seen some rainbow legacies - looks like a lot of fun, but I have to resist the urge to start any new challenges until I finish Apple Grove - someday. My track record with legacies is really bad. I've started at least half a dozen and not finished a single one. ;)

Fun idea! I sometimes use one colour theme for a whole house, just to get some variety, but not on a single sim basis.

It could theoretically get ugly if different people's colors clash. I may have to give them separate rooms to decorate.

Haha, yeah, if I do one, it will be after Rosebud has been completed. I am a bad multi-tasker because I get distracted like a monkey. "Ohh, look, new and shiny!!!! :D" I'm going with the "finish this candy bar before you open another one" method. :)

LOL, I know! The idea of something new is fun, but I have to keep focused on the fun I'm having with this neighborhood.

My guilty pleasure is a test neighborhood, where I test my ideas and can play without taking pictures and worrying about remembering things or messing anything up.

This sounds like fun! I try and be a little "creative" with colors in my houses, but this would certainly make me more creative. Some of my sims have favorite colors, like the Rosada's in Fellowship One whose entire house is pink.

I never knew that about the favorite food, I'll have to pay attention....on the few occasions my sims go to restaurants.

In theory the colors idea was a good one, but I got a little OCD about it and had to quit. I may go back to it someday, but I'm not going to be using homecrafter and bodyshop to make anything or go on any downloading sprees again. ;)

If you have the MATY batbox on your lots, you can click on info and that will tell you their favorite food. If it says "clear" then I think that means they haven't been to a restaurant yet. I think you can use it to pick or change their favorite food as well.
